Our clubs presentation
Our club is being a part of the Lions International Association since the 1990s. Lions Clubs Association of Hungary D-119 provides charitable contributions since 1988 across the country. The Club of Pécs was formed in 1990 supported by the Graz Joanneum Lions Club.
Our intention is to develop and expand the international association and the cooperation with the sorrounding countries, with our croatian and slovene friends.
First Lions Club Pécs the voluntary community, what we undertook that we should make humanitarian work in addition to our daywork the wider catchment area of our residence in the micro-region of Pécs. We pursue a charity activity, we collect donations and we make an other philanthropic service in order to offer help to people that needs it.
The philosophy of our activity, is " WE SERVE”
Our aim is to help our activity with wide-range inrternational sibling contact system. So we can help the micro-region more efficiently and more successfully together with the companion clubs' material and other supports. This manner the we can provide help to the ones in need. We find it necessary to take care, widen and conservate our international and inland correspondance.
Our club regulates the club’s goodwill activity to the international club’s tasks. Representing this, our club is participating an international charity program named ”SIGHT FIRST” it present a large importance in fighting against the blindness. This programs goal is to to help those suffering from preventable blindness or those which can be turned back and to continue the fight on an international level against the illnesses driving to this.
We finance the sight first projects from those sums, that Lions Klub international Szövetség Alapítvány (LCIF) collects by a charitable money-collecting action for the Sight First campaign.
Our club organizes its non-profit activity along four capital aims in all years
- The organization of charity programs (concerts, suppers), which one we help the improvement of Vak and Gyengénlátók Baranya Megyei Szervezet and our other blind fellowmens' living conditions with.
- Helping person in need, the large families living in the area by supporting them with clothes and food.
- With our international sibling contacts we help the Fogd a Kezem Alapítvány taking care of intellectually handicapped children.
- We favour foreign country LIONS exchange camping for the children and young people between 14-23 years to meet other countries' residents, so they can see other countries’ culture, to be a part of their life for a while and to make international friendship and contact. The name of the program YOUTH EXCHANGE which provides the travelling of 8-10 young people.

Our club sits on the first Tuesday of all months, it takes place in Pécs Bagolyvár restaurant in the Lions banquet-hall. Those occasions are public.
